Bright lights, off in the background, twinkle with this little lens! KILLER BOKEH – prime lenses typically produce nicer bokeh (how the lens renders out of focus areas) than most zooms, and with the f1.8 aperture you can make some really nice bokeh. That means even when you don’t want to haul a whole bag full of stuff around, you can easily grab your camera and the Nifty Fifty and go. LIGHT WEIGHT – ranging from only 4.3 oz to 6 oz (Pentax, Canon, Nikon, Sony in order of lightest to heaviest) there is no reason to leave this lens at home.GREAT VALUE, LOW COST – at a price range of $100-200 for most popular brands this lens’ low price tag makes it affordable as a good first lens investment.Without the 1.8 aperture I would have needed a much slower shutter speed or even higher ISO. Xiaomi says the phone is coming to various international markets in the next few months.Shot at ISO 1600, 1/50th a f1.8. The 13 Ultra will be available in Black, Olive Green, and White, starting in China from April 21 (pre-sale starts today). Battery life and charging will be monitored by Xiaomi's Surge P2 and Surge G1 custom chips. Inside, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra packs a 5,000mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging support. The Snapdragon chip is cooled by Xiaomi's self-developer Loo LiquidCool tech, using an aerospace-grade toroidal cooling and a vapor chamber. You'll be able to get it in 12/256GB, 16/512GB, and 16GB/1TB - that's UFS 4.0 storage, naturally. The phone uses the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Xiaomi says the panel can reach as high as 2600 nits of brightness. Upfront, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra packs a 6.73-inch 3200x1440px AMOLED screen with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and an up to 240Hz touch sampling rate. The upper portion of the rear panel is slightly elevated to accentuate the camera module. Like its predecessor, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra comes with a camera-inspired design with a circular lens-like camera module, a metal frame, and a back panel clad in leather. Fast Shot will then snap a photo in just 0.8s. It allows you to take the focusing time out of taking a shot by setting a predetermined focusing distance. There's one neat feature tailor-made for aspiring street photographers, called Fast Shot mode. Adobe will provide a custom camera profile for Lightroom. Then there's a new 50MP UltraRAW mode for the main camera, which provides 14-bit DNG files with built-in multi-frame sharpening, noise reduction, and dynamic range adjustment for additional tweaking. First off, as with other Leica-branded Xiaomi cameras, there are two camera color science modes - Leica Vibrant and Leica Authentic. Xiaomi and Leica have brought a number of impressive features to the 13 Ultra. The innovation doesn't end on the physical side. The 32MP f/2.0 front camera has fixed focus and will bin pixels 4-to-1 for 8MP final shots. Using in-sensor-zoom technology, the 13 Ultra also offers a 2x 46mm and 10x 240mm mode option. They are a 75mm f/1.8 OIS 3.2x mid-range zoom, a 5x 120mm camera with a new brighter f/3.0 lens, and a 12mm f/1.8 autofocusing ultrawide with 5cm macro focusing capabilities. The other three cameras all use the new 50MP IMX858 sensor, which measures a respectable 1/2.51". The sensor bins 1.6µm pixels 4-to-1 resulting in 12.5MP images with huge 3.2µm individual pixels. The primary camera has a 50MP 1-inch IMX989 sensor and a 23mm optically-stabilized lens with a physical, two-step aperture that allows for f/1.9 opening for the shallowest depth of field (read blur or bokeh), and f/4.0 for a sharper image. Four cameras are on the back, done in collaboration with Leica and sitting under a unified glass dome that Xiaomi calls the Leica Vario-Summicron 1:1.8-3.0/12-120 ASPH lens. Let's start with the cameras, which are the focus of this phone. Better yet, unlike the 12S Ultra, the 13 Ultra will launch globally. The flagship brings a number of imaging innovations and the current best possible hardware. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is here to once again set the photography benchmark in the smartphone industry. It is computed so that re-computing the sum across the entire IP header (including the checksum. It appears in this case that the checksum of the IP header has a value of 0xffff. Destination address: The destination address is also 32 bit in size stores the address of the receiver. Source Address: The source address is a 32-bit address of the source used for the IPv4 packet. When the header checksum is not matching, then the packet will be discarded. I tracked down the actual packet which is dropped. The IP header is compared to the value of its checksum. We have the impression that it is somehow related to Windows 7 machines, as we have never seen a drop of packets if an XP PC is controlling our embedded devices. We have several systems running and we see occasionally network packets being dropped by the iNiche stack. For our embedded products we use the iNiche stack. If you can find it on sale then it’s a more attractive proposition. Fitbit says it will add Assistant and Google Maps, but without them at launch and missing features from older models, the Versa 4 is a bit of a hard sell. It has a physical side button instead of the fiddly touch button on the older model, and it has Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant – but no Google Assistant, despite Google now owning Fitbit. With in-built GPS you can easily track run, swim, and cycle routes, while battery life is good enough to get at least three days if you are hammering it, and possibly more if you are a light user. It’s a weird decision that makes us hesitate to call the Versa 4 a smartwatch – it’s more a fitness tracker that looks like a watch. Just like with the Fitbit Sense 2, Fitbit decided to remove music controls and third-party app support from the Versa 4 despite being features of the Versa 3. The Fitbit Versa 4 is good, but it’s weirdly not as good as the Versa 3 that came out in 2020. There are a few missteps, however, like inconsistent performance, awkward device management, no altimeter (which the Charge 4 offered) and a few previously-available features that simply weren’t present on the Charge 5 at launch, when they really should have been. Its built-in GPS means it’s a tracker that can match the pricier smartwatches, though it can’t take calls, like the Sense and Versa 3 can. It covers all the basics – tracking steps, distance, calories burned, hourly activity, heart rate, swim-tracking and advanced sleep, not to mention it has most of the top-end exercise features too, including Active Zone Minutes. Fitbit has cherry-picked some of the best and brightest features from its latest trackers and smartwatches to create a Goldilocks product that delivers an impressive breadth of functionality for the price, not to mention wrapping it up in a lightweight and stylish package. The Charge 5 is easily our best all-round Fitbit activity tracker. But if you want the Fitbit basics and nothing else, this is the Fitbit for you. Though it can display smartphone notifications, it’s too tiny.Īs with every Fitbit, you can only dig deeply into your day and night tracking stats if you pay for Fitbit Premium. And although the screen is now in colour it is very small in deed so is only good for glancing at the time or basic fitness stats. With the always-on display turned off you can eke 10 days of battery life before charging too.Īs this is on the cheaper end of the Fitbit range there is no GPS built-in, so i you want to track the GPS route of your runs or cycles you’ll have to take your phone with you. Tracking is automatic and in our tests was very accurate for steps and heart rate, the two main metrics you will get from the Inspire 3. It’s subtle and comfortable and comes with three strap colour options. The Inspire 3 is the best version yet of Fitbit’s simple fitness band, adding a colour screen for the first time. It’s our favourite Fitbit (even better than the Versa 4), as it has a great screen and all the fitness features you could want. We also still recommend it above the newer Versa 4 and Sense 2 – Versa 3 has all the features you need, and actually supports third party apps and music controls, unlike the newer models. High and Low Heart Rate Notifications – which were previously an exclusive Sense feature – are now part of the Versa 3’s wheelhouse too. While the Sense has more detailed health apps and sensors such as EDA, ECG and Skin Temperature, plus stress-management tools, we think these are over the top for most users, and the Versa 3 range of features is more than enough, and at a much better price. And its screen is just as large and bright. It matches the more expensive Fitbit Sense on all fitness features and most health functions, too. You can even take and respond to phone calls on your wrist, as it has a built-in microphone and speaker. It offers on-screen notifications from your phone, silent alarms, cardio fitness levels, workout and other exercise modes such as swimming and weights, female health tracking, and wellness features, plus music controls and Amazon’s Alexa and Google voice assistant. The Fitbit Versa 3 covers all the aspects of a fitness watch, measuring steps, heart rate, distance, calories burned, floors climbed, active minutes, hourly activity and sleep, with plenty of extra health features (such as SpO2 blood-oxygen readings), plus built-in GPS, for those who outdoor exercise without their phone. The participants were nervous, but also hopeful.Īlong with Lee, there was a professional football player considering retirement and a former hockey star who had multiple concussions. Two psychedelic mushroom ceremonies and two therapy sessions awaited them at the retreat run by a Canadian company called Wake Network. They each had come to the Good Hope Estate, a sugar plantation turned exclusive resort, hoping to rid themselves of depression, anxiety and chronic pain they had experienced for years. Lee was part of a small group - many of them retired athletes - who'd traveled to Jamaica in March 2022 for a retreat costing as much as $5,500. Psychedelic mushrooms, he hoped, could change his life. Now, he had come to a verdant jungle at the end of a dirt road halfway up a mountain. "When you're in pain and you're stuck in a corner, you'll do anything to get out of it," Lee said. The impulse faded, but the pain remained. He was willing to do anything to escape the hell he felt trapped in. In his lowest moment, on a night when he was in the depths of an addiction to painkillers, he said, he contemplated driving his car into the median of a Chicago freeway at 140 mph. There’s no easy way, for instance, to start watching a program from the point at which you left off, and Emby seemed to categorize all recorded programs–including movies–as “TV.” Also, because Emby always defaults to maximum video quality, I had to fiddle in some situations to avoid buffering, and to remove interpolation artifacts in Emby’s Fire TV app. Without a subscription, you can only watch live TV channels.Įmby would benefit from just a little more polish as well. Once the HDHomeRun is connected to your router, Emby should detect it automatically.įinally, Emby requires its own Premiere subscription for DVR service, priced at $5 per month, $50 per year, or $100 for life. This is the only way to avoid any ongoing service charges with Emby DVR, but it’s a huge hassle. The easiest path to procurement is a $25-per-year subscription to Schedules Direct, whose login credentials you can plug directly into Emby’s menu.Īlternatively, you can grapple with a program like MC2XML to generate a file that Emby can read, drawing on free TV guide sources. For cable subscribers, the $130 HDHomeRun Prime can stream live TV with a CableCARD, though it can only record unencrypted channels.Īfter setting all that up, Emby’s configuration menu should detect the HDHomeRun automatically, but you still need a source of guide data to see what’s on.
